For example, if you shower without a fan on and the humidity builds and remains warm for extended periods, mold can build up in the vents and within the walls.

Insurance doesn't always cover mold. Insurance policies won't normally cover mold, fungus, or dry rot within a home. However, if a water damage event occurs and mold results from that damage over time, property insurance will cover most repairs except mold remediation.
